Sea Turtle Release

Sea Turtle Inc

Their mission is: to rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured sea turtles, educate the public, and assist with conservation efforts for all marine turtle species. Sea Turtle Inc., serves as a rehabilitation center for sick and injured sea turtles. Each year they rescue and rehabilitate 40-100+ sea turtles with the goal of returning these turtles to the wild.  Today approximately 50 sea turtles (Kemp's Ridley) were released from Isla Blanca County Park here on South Padre Island.  This is a great facility with wonderful dedicated staff.  Please enjoy the pictures and visit their site:

The crowd lined the width of the beach to get a look at the turtles as they were about to be released back into the Gulf of Mexico.

Sea Turtles were transported from the rehabilitation center to the water front via pick up truck.

Executive Director Jeff George: overseeing the release of the turtles back to their natural habitat.

Jeff George states, "The Kemp's ridley; it is our native species and we can proudly say that we were involved in its recovery as an endangered species."

I feel much better and am ready to go back home!

Above is Brian Thurow - Veterinary Technician
"I've loved sea turtles my entire life and have a passion for animal medicine. Sea Turtle, Inc. is my dream job and I really look up to the people I work for."
