Getting Ready For Alaska!

Getting Ready
 For
Alaska And Northern Canada!

On Our way to Indiana
We stopped to see our friends Don & Mary

It is so Nice to have friends all across the land
 We are sooo blessed!

RV Hall of Fame Museum
Joan and I started searching for a new replacement for our 5th Wheel.
We are seriously considering a class A Motorhome.
Just not sure this is what she wants.
A New Trailer??
Love the Kitchen!
Why We Continued To Look For A New RV........

We dropped our 5th wheel off at
MOR-ryde!
We decided it was time before we head back to Alaska to remove our old suspension and replace it with a new independent suspension system with Kodiak hydraulic brakes!
Nothing beefy about this leaf spring/axle setup!
These springs were flat and we felt would not hold up
 to a trip through
 Northern Canada and Alaska.

 So out with the old!

 In with the New!
First set being wheeled from manufacturing to the installation bay.

Sergio - Our installer was excellent!
WOW - THIS IS A BEEFY SYSTEM!!!

One In!

Two In!

ALL DONE!

Soon we headed West.
We stopped in Wisconsin to see our friends we first met in SPI!
Joan with Tom & Donna!
I just wanted to see Donna's Tractor!!!

  We stopped in Pierre, SD.

  At 3:15am the next morning
the wind began to howl.

This is what happened!!

That's our 5th wheel - still up right!
The wind ripped our slide topper right off breaking the steel brackets!
This is after I had moved the truck back from under the limb
No Damage to the Truck Luckily!!
Our Neighbors did NOT fare well!!
Yup - That up side down boat is where the trailer was!
 Look closely.
This was pushed up against the tree after being flipped over.
 The RV next to us!
The wind actually pulled our large slide out off the mounts.
The outside wall of the slide out
Now pulled out of the 1 1/2 plywood floor it was mounted to.
These leaves are up about 6 to 7ft on the closet door!

When the big slide was broken from the mount
The leaves and water blew into the RV where the seals use to be!

From Here we managed to force the slide in and drove to Rapid City, SD in hopes of getting repairs so that we could make it to Alaska Tour!

The people at Dakota RV in Rapid City saved the day and conducted extensive repairs over the next two days getting us back on track!
If you are ever in the area and need RV repairs
